Moving...

So, it has come and gone (thank you God) and we are all alive to tell the tale of the longest 4 days in our family, no seriously, the longest 4 days EVER :-/

On Monday, July 30th, we picked up our budget truck and began packing it, with the help of some great people! This continued long into the night, in addition to cleaning up the rooms that had been cleared, packing the remainder pieces, breaking down more furniture etc. I think that night, we were up until about midnight!
On Tuesday, July 31st, we woke up and started packing again, this time it was just Stephen and I and our AMAZING babysitter watched the kiddos for us the majority of the day, could not have done it without her! At this point, Stephen is plum wore out, I am getting there and we now have no beds to sleep on except a full size air mattress for 3 people...you do the math :-|. We also realized tuesday night that not everything was going to fit in our rental truck, Stephen's jeep or my car, UH OH...we scrambled.
On Wednesday, I went out super early and picked up a uhaul trailer to tow behind my car and we proceeded to pack it with the remaining pieces (thank God it was big enough). We also got the trailer for Stephens Jeep to ride on, loaded that up, closed up the house, said 'goodbye' and we were on our way! We were able to leave Nac about 11:30 (only about 2 hours later than we wanted to)!
We knew the drive was going to be a long one and I was really worried about the kiddos and the dog. I had all 3 of them (Yahoo for me :-/). They however, did AWESOME! They were troopers: watched movies, made each other laugh, Kinleigh helped me with Liam and gave him snacks, retrieved dropped bottles/sippies, kept him distracted, gave him toys etc. We stopped about every 3 hours to let everyone out to stretch and go potty, in addition to refueling my car! My goal was to get to Auburn in one day (I did in college, why couldn't I do it now...well, my college days are over and have been for some time). However, we made it to Auburn around 3am and Stephen and I were hanging on by a thread. Now, it would be nice if that is where our night ended, but it didn't. You see, our driveway wasn't big enough for: a 24 foot truck, a car dolly, a uhaul trailer, a jeep and an expedition. So, we had to unload and get rid of some items, such as the car dolly and trailer. So that morning (oh, so early) we unloaded the uhaul trailer and returned it to the uhaul dealership and then got the jeep of the tow dolly so that Stephen could take it back first thing in the morning.
I went to my Best Friend's house to spend the next few hours sleeping and Stephen crashed at our new house! I was hoping for atleast 6 hours of sleep (I mean, the kids went to bed late, they know to sleep in, right?)...that didn't exactly happen. I got the kids and I to sleep around 4am and Liam decided that 6:30am was a great time to wake up, ARE YOU KIDDING ME SON? Even Kinleigh told him to go back to bed cause she was tired and it was too early, HA! Well, we got up and hung out till everyone else woke up and then the kids played while I was a zombie on the couch!
Stephen got up around 8, returned the tow dolly and then we all (including the guys who were going to help us unpack the truck) showed up around 10 to start the last leg of our LOONNNGGGG journey! Unpacking went off without a hitch and was done around 3pm.
Our house had everything in it (shockingly enough), the trucks and dolly had been returned, we were all alive and we now had a house that was a hoarders dream (for those of you that know me well, this is my cause for an anxiety attack). However, my initial adrenaline surge had run out and I had no more. So all we could focus on was getting beds for everyone, getting cleaned up and going to bed...which we all did by 8:30!
Now, needless to say, my house is no longer a wreck, it is completely livable and visitor ready! The walls have personality, everything has its place and it is our home! All in all it was a very successful trip with only one major hiccup (needing an extra truck), very few things (if any) ended up broken during the move and shockingly enough, the 'moving kidnapper (you know when something randomly disappears that you SWORE you packed and knew where it was)' didn't take anything of ours in the move!
We are happy to be here and ready for a routine to get underway with school, daycare, me working out again, extra curricular activities, having a social life, making new friends etc.!!
Here are some pictures from our adventure:
