So last tuesday Stephen got the news that we have been waiting for (a short but LOOONNNGGG 6 weeks)......HE GOT INTO AUBURN!!! WAR EAGLE
Yes, we are both very excited (each of us for different reasons ;), but none the less, we are super excited. I am soooooo excited, that this blog post will not do it justice. We have an answer, we can start figuring out things in our new hometown, we can set start getting into PhD mode (because I am convinced that it will take our entire family to get him through this program) and we can plan our first visit to begin looking for a place to live, jobs for me, daycares for kids, extracurricular activities for kids, get acquainted with the town, start living in orange and blue ;) and much more (you should see my actual list of all we have to do, its a little ridiculous).
Anyways, I have been sending some serious prayers up to the big guy about us going to Auburn and apparently my prayers were answered. Stephen and I are excited for some of the same reasons and then again, we are excited for different reasons. Stephen is excited because, he can finally relax about getting into grad school (yes, my genius of a husband was afraid that he wasn't going to get into grad school), he got into an absolutely WONDERFUL program with lots at his disposal for research, they offered him a stipend with a tuition waiver (jackpot), he really did like Auburn and he is ready to be done with the whole 'undergrad' mentality and to start bigger and better things!!! I am excited because, he can now relax about grad school, I GET TO RETURN TO AUBURN, I get to go back to my BFF's from college, I am familiar with the town and comfortable in it, it is something new and fun for our entire family, REAL college football on weekends, school spirit, being close to the beach/mountains/big city/small town and raising our children up as Tigers!!!
In all seriousness though, this is such a great opportunity for Stephen and for our family! He is going to do so well in this program and I am just so excited for him and proud of him in all that he has accomplished. He is ridiculously smart and this field makes him so excited about what he is doing, which is so much fun to watch and see!! This is going to be a lot of fun and a lot of work for our family, but we can do it and we will. Our goal for the next 6 years (yes, that is how long it will take him to graduate with his doctorate) is to get Stephen through grad school...cause once that happens, I do not have to work full time again-hallelujah!!! I am really looking forward to him going to work to do what he loves every day and I am looking forward to not going to work every day, lolol.
Over the next 5 months, we will be so very busy with getting everything lined up for when we move, packing all our stuff, road triping out to Auburn, moving into our new home, starting grad school and getting our kids comfortable in their new town! We will keep you updated and posted on the latest as best we can. Im sure you will see LOTS of pictures of us in Auburn gear in the mean time ;)
